Interesting “development” on another list.

Steve’s Account

On the SB-Parents list (devoted to parents of spina bifida kids and

adults with SB.) there was a recent thread about putting their

orthotics in the diswasher to clean them. (Including using dish

washer detergent to clean them!) The original poster suggested

that you may want to get them out before the dry cycle!

I posted a comment suggesting that this was not a good idea for

several reasons:

1) plastic “creep” changing the fit.

2) accelerated aging.

3) de-lamination of foam inserts (PE-Lite, and spot pads).

4) melting of low temp plastics

5) deformation of other plastics if left in the dry cycle accidentally.

Anyone else have a comment about this?

Steve
