At the moment, Under the situation that we are living in the state of
Chiapas where the last violent events, together with other factors of
religious and social type such as they are it the poverty and the lack
education, different organizations that don’t belong to the government
have given the voice of alert that displaced natives’ of their lands
thousands exist. Many of them suffer of amputations originated mainly by
diabetes, viper bites and diverse traumatisms.
The Center of Community Development Juan Diego I.A.P. has presented a
pioneer initiative in Mexico that seeks to lend a service of prosthetic
adaptation to this type in remote access areas. The situation is
complex: Most of these people are not in big towns, in fact, the biggest
town that we have detected belongs to 150 people and in the they are
single 4 amputated patients.The distances among the different towns are
not very big, but the lack of appropriate roads makes the amputated
patients to have to carry out days from 4 to 6 hours to arrive to one of
the big towns.
With the help of different groupings located in the conflict area, we
have detected 120 people that suffer of amputations disseminated in
different towns of the municipalities of Acteal, Ococingo, and Las
Margaritas.
The proposal that arises to give answer to this situation it is the one
of mounting a prosthetics service that can be mobilized by the whole
area to lend the service to people that require it by means of the help
of a truck. I have the fortune of participating in a project for the
prosthetics fitting in remote areas by means of the attendance of the
CAD/CAM technology. The main problem is that at the moment, we don’t
count with enough budget to use this technology.
Taking into account this whole environment, I wanted to know if somebody
of you bill with certain experience that you want to share in this work
type. For example, we would thank ideas in the respect of how the truck
that will take the equipment to adapt.
The purpose of carrying out this project is with the purpose of
beginning it in this area where is already had a certain localization of
the patients it stops later to extend it to the whole republic… And
why not? maybe in a future we will be able to have the budget to mount a
service attended by the CAD/CAM system.
