The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) Foundation announced that funding for the Dale Berry Orthotics and Prosthetics Endowed Scholarship has been increased by 250 percent. The annual scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in EMU’s College of Health and Human Services Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics program.
Backed by the Dale Berry Endowment Fund, the Dale Berry Orthotics and Prosthetics Endowed Scholarship was established to promote the essential relationship between quality O&P clinical documentation and quality patient care by educating and future O&P clinicians to produce quality, concise, and compliant clinical documentation.
“My primary motivation for funding a scholarship is simple and transparent,” said Dale Berry, CP, FAAOP. “This industry has been very rewarding to me personally and professionally, which has instilled in me a desire and responsibility to assist, support, and encourage the future clinicians who will replace me when I leave this industry.”
“The generosity of people like Mr. Berry, who continue building, giving, and finding ways to move things forward, has a positive impact on our students and the patients they will serve in the future,” said Sarah Grant, director of development for the College of Health and Human Services.
An EMU selection panel will choose the scholarship recipient based on the best 250-word essay submitted on the topic, “How does compliant documentation influence orthotic and prosthetic patient care?”
