The Orthotic and Prosthetic Group of America (OPGA), Waterloo, Iowa, announced that the nomination period for the 2018 O&P Woman of the Year Award is now open. The annual award, organized by OPGA, is open to all women who work in the profession. Nominators are encouraged to provide examples of how the nominee has made significant contributions throughout her career to serve patients, community, business, and the O&P profession. Nominations must be submitted by July 13.
In 2017, JoAnne Kanas, DPT, CPO, FAAOP, was selected from a group of 23 women as the inaugural O&P Woman of the Year. “The O&P profession has so many incredibly talented women who have significantly impacted the growth and development of the profession and the practitioners as well,” said Kanas, corporate director of orthotics and prosthetics, for Shriners Hospital for Children — Tampa, Florida.
The 2018 award will be presented during the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association National Assembly, being held September 26-29 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
