Prosthetic Solutions, Muncie, Indiana, sponsored an Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) First Volley Tennis Clinic at the Muncie YMCA November 11. The clinic was led by First Volley director of tennis Darren Kindred and assisted by the YMCA staff, including Justin Overmyer and staff from United States Tennis Association (USTA) Midwest section.
Many of central Indiana’s residents with amputations and the physically challenged joined in the afternoon event, which offered adaptive tennis skills, drills, as well as some wheelchair tennis instruction. A volunteer group from Ball State University also helped to chase balls and offer assistance.
As an event follow up, the USTA Midwest is putting together a weekly amputee tennis clinic in Muncie. Events will be funded through USTA grants and will offer an eight-week start up.
