If you haven’t looked at the calendar lately, let us remind you that Christmas is 13 days away—so if you haven’t gotten in the holiday shopping spirit yet, now might be a good time. Perhaps our recent poll question on where our followers are with their holiday shopping will get you in the mood.
We asked how people prefer to shop. Of those who responded, 58 percent they like shopping the old-fashioned way of brick and mortar, 17 percent they like shopping on Black Friday, 17 percent wait for Cyber Monday, and 8 percent of our poll takers are waaaaaay ahead of the game, having finished their shopping months ago.
Last month ABC donated $1.5 million to the O&P Foundation, a donation that will allow the organization to raise levels of awareness beyond the O&P community, and now ABC is going to match other donations to the Foundation through 2025, up to another $1 million. We asked our followers what influenced their decision to make a donation. 80 percent said they donate to a particular charity because of a personal connection, and 20 percent they will donate to a charity based on its reputation.
As the year draws to a close, many of us reflect on the past with fondness as we also look toward the future. In the December issue of The O&P EDGE, an article highlights the effects that patients can have on their O&P clinicians and staff, an impact that can extend through the lifetime of care. Our question: What is it about your patient(s) that can make a lasting impression on you and your staff? So far, most respondents say patients who have a positive attitude often make the most lasting impressions.
