Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month provides a dedicated time to educate the public, honor the community, and advocate for equitable medical care for Americans who are living with limb loss or difference. We asked our readers what they could do to help raise awareness. Of those who responded, half said they use social media hashtags; 38 percent wear orange, the movement’s official color to represent the energy, strength, and resilience of the community, and 13 percent said they attend events.
Last week we highlighted Scott Williamson’s column about leadership in which he wrote, “If you’ve been leading a small O&P practice—or you’re stepping into more responsibility—you already know this: Leadership isn’t free. It costs you time, energy, peace of mind, and sometimes even relationships.” We asked our followers what’s most important to in leading an O&P company. Fifty percent said it’s vital to set realistic expectations, and the rest were split between investing in your inner circle and using your moral compass.
This week’s poll highlights articles from Amplitude magazine, our sister publication, which discuss and highlight travel tips for people with amputations. We asked for feedback about what works for a smooth and uneventful flying experience. So far, most respondents are saying flying in general is the biggest challenge. Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
