An article in the July issue of The O&P EDGE magazine highlights an OIG and CMS report regarding ongoing waste, abuse, and fraud related to OTS orthoses. Of those who responded to our poll question on LinkedIn, 39 percent said marketing scams are the biggest problem feeding the fraudulent activity, 28 percent said the problem comes from not having a common link between patient and provider, 22 percent said paying high-risk providers is causing the problem, and 11 percent said something else is leading the crisis.
One follower said the problem was in “OR02 braces continually being drop-shipped to the patient without the use of a properly licensed O&P practitioner.” She also added, “The company I’ve founded is working diligently to help stop it in order to give patients a better quality of care, resulting in a far better outcome.”
Since the Fourth of July was still on the horizon, we wanted to know what our followers thought about fireworks.
Of those who responded, one-third said they love shooting them off, another third said that fireworks are hard on pets, 30 percent said fireworks are better left to the pros, and 3 percent said they should be illegal.
July, which marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, is Disability Pride Month.
Our question is up and in full swing: “What is the best way to honor the history, achievement, experiences, and struggles of the disability community?” So far, our voters are saying that teaching children about it is the best way.
Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
