One recent poll question was, “How do you engage in O&P policy advocacy?” Fifty-three percent said they were planning to attend the AOPA Policy Forum, which was held in Washington DC, May 10-11. Twenty-seven percent said they serve on a committee or for an association as a form of activism. Thirteen percent said they visit their state and local representatives, and seven percent said something else.
Since the pandemic, working remotely has become more commonplace, even becoming the norm for some people. Though many O&P-related jobs have to be done in an office setting, there are exceptions, and sometimes clinicians even need to communicate across facility locations. Our poll question last week asked, “How do you prefer to communicate remotely with colleagues?” Of those who responded, 30 percent said their preferred method was Teams chat. That narrowly edged out texting, which came from 28 percent. Twenty-two percent said they prefer communicating via email, and 20 percent said a video call was their preferred choice.
On Twitter, it was unanimous, video calls were chosen as the best way to communicate remotely with other workers.
And since Memorial Weekend is upon us, what better poll topic? Though we know that Memorial Day was created to remember and honor military members who died in service, the long weekend has become synonymous with the unofficial start of summer. Our question, “How are you planning to spend your day?” is up and in full swing. Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
