A Postscript in the August issue of The O&P EDGE, “Sexism Encountered in O&P,” brought to light that though diversity in healthcare appears to be improving, sexism does remain. In part one, we asked what you would do if you experienced sexism at work. Part two asked what employers should do to address sexism in the workplace.
Of those who responded on LinkedIn, 52 percent said employers could enforce an impartial nondiscrimination policy; 21 percent said they could offer equal pay; 21 percent said they could hire women for senior roles; and 7 percent said they could have a mentoring program to address the issue.
Last week we highlighted September’s Postscript about preventing cyberattacks. While it is a growing threat, there are ways for companies to fortify their defenses. Our question: What measures can your company take to help reduce the risk? Of those who responded on LinkedIn, 57 percent said companies should save data backups regularly; 29 percent said enabling firewalls is helpful; and 14 percent said it was important to stay informed about threats. Our answers included an option about using web and email filters, but no one chose that as the first line of defense.
To meet printing and mailing needs, the October issue of The O&P EDGE has already been, as they say in the publishing industry, put to bed. Every month we work diligently to produce a top-of-the-line magazine that serves the O&P industry with the latest and most useful information. It’s possible because we work as a cohesive team. And since we do it so well, we wanted to know what our followers thought about teamwork. Our current question asks about the best ways to motivate a team. It’s up and in full swing on LinkedIn or Twitter!
Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
