In part one of our question on smartphones, we asked why they were so popular. 71 percent of the respondents said it was because we have become addicted to them. That must be true as a recent outside survey with 8,000 responses suggested that only 14 percent of people still use smartphones just for calls and messaging, and more than 33 percent consider their smartphone their “life,” often using it from the moment they wake until they go to bed.
In part two of our question about cell phones, we asked about screensavers. Since most people are constantly looking at their phone, the first thing they usually see is their screensaver. Of those who responded to our question, What is on the face of your phone, 31 percent it was their spouse, 17 percent said it was another family member, and 17 percent it was a photo taken on vacation. 34 percent said it was something else, including pets. Pet comments were “Beloved cat peering down from perch on stairs” and “What else? My dog.” We should have figured pets would be a popular answer!
Last week we wanted to know what our followers thought of the e-newsletters we produce every month: EDGE Direct, which comes out weekly, and EDGE Advantage Sifted, which comes out twice a month. (If you haven’t heard of them, you can subscribe to one or both at opedge.com.)
Our question: What do you think of our newsletters? Of those who responded, 50 percent said they usually find something timely to read in them and 25 percent said they like reading the poll results stories (like this one!). The rest, however, said they weren’t aware of our newsletters but said they were going to sign up. We sure hope you did!
For our current questions, we thought we’d highlight an article in the February issue of The O&P EDGE, “What Does the New President and New Congress Hold for O&P?” Our latest question asks about what legislative progress you would like to see for O&P.
The poll is up and in full swing. So far, our followers are hoping that legislation for So Every BODY Can Move will continue to advance. Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
