CGS, the Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor for Jurisdictions B and C, announced that its medical review staff will be conducting a complex, post-pay, service-specific medical review of two lower-limb prostheses Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes.
The review of L-5700 (Replacement, socket, below knee, molded to patient model) and L-5701 (Replacement, socket, above knee/knee disarticulation, including attachment plate, molded to patient model) is being conducted because data analysis revealed that Jurisdiction C’s allowed dollars for the L-Codes were significantly above expected amounts.
