Fulfilling its mission to provide the best and broadest selection of O&P products available, SPS ends 2009 having achieved some major goals. During this calendar year, SPS has expanded its total warehouse space by 27,000 square feet, initiated Saturday Shipping Service, and broadened its commitment to cutting-edge technology through its sole distribution agreements with some of the foremost innovators in the O&P Industry.
The footprint of the SPS Corporate Headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia, has increased to 70,000 square feet. The 23 percent increase in Alpharetta warehouse and office space enables SPS significant product stocking expansion for its Southeast and Midwest customers, while expanding its Operations and Customer Service organization simultaneously to meet customer demands. This addition comes on the heels of a 43 percent increase in the SPS Paso Robles, California, Distribution Center earlier this year.
“We are now able to stock significantly greater numbers of the products our customers want and need everyday,” said Eric Craig, vice president of operations for SPS. Craig continued, “This year’s expansions will ensure the vast majority of SPS customers across the United States will be served more efficiently. Our expansions enable us to maintain our 99.3 percent fulfillment of same-day orders while sustaining our commitment to 1—2 day service for 98 percent of the country.”
Early in 2009, SPS initiated a Saturday Shipping Service to provide an option for customers who must receive a package for a Monday morning appointment. The Saturday service delivers boxes via UPS air service for a low add-on fee to normal next-day air charges. Saturday Shipping Service applies to all next-day air orders received on any given Saturday prior to 2 p.m. EST.
“Interest and use of this service continues to grow as more customers become aware of it,” said Connie Withers, vice president of SPS Sales. “For those who have used it and those who need it, SPS’ Saturday service has become an invaluable lifeline,” she added.
Throughout the year, SPS has had the pleasure of launching a cadre of advanced innovations in microprocessor knees, neurorehabilitation devices, upper-limb prosthetics, and prosthetic feet with artificial intelligence. SPS’ sole distribution of these unique products, and its commitment to deliver world-class education on them, affords SPS customers with an opportunity to stay abreast of the latest advances and thereby enhance their own competitive position in their home markets.
“SPS is committed to providing our customers with the very best products and services available in the O&P industry,” said Ron May, president and chief operating officer of SPS. May continued, “This philosophy demands we consistently push ourselves to provide an ever greater range of services, with a product offering unmatched by any other distributor. By definition, it also necessitates that we assemble the finest team of people, armed with excellent skills to assist our customers achieve their business objectives. This is our commitment and our challenge every day.”
