Researchers evaluating patient-reported satisfaction with orthotic devices and services in individuals with Charcot‐Marie‐Tooth (CMT) disease found that over one-third of participants provided negative responses, including dislike of the AFO’s appearance, discomfort, abrasions or irritations, and pain, which identified areas for clinical improvement. Ratings of orthotic services were generally positive.
Data was collected with the Orthotics and Prosthetics Users Survey distributed via email through the Inherited Neuropathy Consortium Contact Registry and included 11 device‐specific questions and ten service‐related questions. The 314 participants who completed the survey were also asked open-ended questions about their experiences with AFOs.
