The Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) and The First Clinics was recently recognized and rewarded by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) wheelchair tennis division for OPAF’s work with grassroots programming across the country. Robin Burton, OPAF executive director, and OPAF wheelchair tennis instructor Jeff Kegler were invited to the USTA national campus in Lake Nona, Florida, for a two-day workshop with other national leaders and providers of wheelchair tennis. Instruction was given on improving programming and marketing as well as oncourt skills and drills.

OPAF and First Volley Tennis were also awarded grant funding from USTA Southern. Funding will be used for a First Volley youth clinic in conjunction with the Carolina Adaptive Standing tennis tournament to be held in Greensboro, North Carolina, in April, as well as supporting the First Volley Tennis Clinics at the Adventure Amputee Camp in Bryson City, North Carolina, in July.
