The American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) has honored Saeed Zahedi, OBE, FREng, BSc, PhD, FIMechE, CEng, RDI, with its 2017 Lifetime Achievement award.

Zahedi, a biomedical engineer and innovator, is currently the technical director at Chas A Blatchford & Sons, headquartered in Basingstoke, England, and a visiting professor in the Design Simulation Research Centre at Bournemouth University, Poole, England. He has authored more than 125 publications and patented more than 35 inventions. With more than 30 years of experience in prosthetic innovation, he is known for his work in the development of the Linx, a fully integrated, microprocessor controlled, lower-limb prosthetic system, in 2014.
He was knighted in June “for services to Engineering and Innovation ” in this year’s Queen Elisabeth of the United Kingdom Birthday Honours List for his outstanding services to innovation in the field of amputee rehabilitation.
Zahedi will be honored with the lifetime achievement award at AOPA’s World Congress in Las Vegas, September 6-9.
