One month after a devastating tsunami swept the Indian Ocean,
the death toll continues to mount, and by late January was
approaching 300,000. Following the December 26 disaster, an
unprecedented international relief effort appears to have averted a
second tragedy–staving off wide-spread starvation and disease.
Mercy Ships participated in the initial emergency relief effort and
is now announcing a long-term commitment to the region.
