OPIE Software, Gainesville, Florida, issued a note of caution to its users and wanted to share this information, presented in an edited format, with the O&P community:
Cyberthreats are on the rise. With the national and international attention, you are probably aware of these malicious attempts to control or disrupt computer systems. This past weekend, a massive cyberattack was all over the news. A ransomware threat commonly referred to as WannaCry has infected over a hundred thousand systems worldwide.
It is recommended that you take action to protect your business and patients by making sure that all computers on your network have automatic updates enabled. This will ensure that newly available security patches are downloaded and installed.
OPIE Software advised users of its hosted services that due diligence has been taken to protect it information technology infrastructure from the current WannaCry vulnerability.
To learn more about cyber risk and best practices, OPIE Software is offering a free webinar on Thursday, May 25 at 11 a.m. ET. Register for the webinar here.
