Hanger Names Martin President of IN

Hanger Orthopedic Group Inc., Bethesda, Maryland, named Jeff Martin president of its wholly owned subsidiary, Innovative Neurotronics Inc.

Martin has served as vice president and managing director of Innovative Neurotronics since its inception in February 2004. Martin brought the company's first product, the WalkAide®, from concept through technical design, manufacturing feasibility, regulatory approval, and clinical trials, to commercialization. As president, Martin will have responsibility for the company's total business operations and will direct the expansion of the company's product portfolio, the company said.

"Under Jeff's direction, Innovative Neurotronics successfully demonstrated its ability to convert new technologies into viable products to improve the lives of patients," Hanger President and COO Thomas Kirk said. "We are confident Jeff's vision and leadership will establish IN Inc. as the premier company delivering neuromuscular products for patients suffering from various muscle impairments."

Specializing in the field of functional electrical stimulation, the company identifies emerging Myo-Orthotics Technologies® developed at research centers and universities throughout the world that use neuromuscular stimulation to improve the function of an impaired limb.

"Hanger's mission has always been to restore the mobility and independence of our patients," Martin said. "Myo-Orthotics Technology advances that goal by offering patients who would typically wear a brace to simply stabilize a weakened limb, the advantage of actually using that limb in a natural, controllable manner. I am very enthusiastic about Hanger's potential in this revolutionary clinical area."

Martin brings 25 years of marketing and business management experience. He joined Hanger in 1995 as the vice president of its managed care network and then advanced to vice president of Product Development.
