The Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) led a First Volley adaptive tennis clinic at the Adventure Amputee Camp at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Bryson City, North Carolina, on July 12. OPAF has participated in the camp’s adaptive recreational activities for six years.
The clinic, which hosted 36 participants, offered adaptive instruction for both both standing and wheelchair tennis. The clinic was led by First Volley instructor Amy Franklin and volunteer Tyson Thompson, both with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) North Carolina, and wheelchair instructors Jeff Kegler and Eddie Hawkins. The clinic was funded through a grant from USTA North Carolina.
