A Step Ahead Prosthetics, with offices in Boston and Hicksville, New York, is offering remote access options for patients unable to travel to the office for prosthetic care. The company’s Remote Assistance program is also available to patients of other facilities.
With the program, patients can ship prostheses for repairs, modifications, and adjustments through A Step Ahead’s FedEx account to ensure safe and timely delivery. Patients are responsible for the shipping costs.
The company also noted that other services are available without an office visit, including purchase of prosthetic supplies; service checks of prosthetic feet, hands, and knees; delivery of loaner knees with instructions for switching at home; ordering custom partial hands, partial feet, fingers, and toes; and sending in silicone skin covers for repairs or service. A Step Ahead will also schedule virtual consultations via Skype or FaceTime.
