<!-- IR / CONFERENCES --> <div style="float: right; margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px;"><img src="https://opedge.com/Content/OldArticles/images/2015-07/2015-07_13-01.jpg" alt="ACPOC logo" /></div> The Association of Children's Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC) 2017 Annual Meeting was held March 22-25 in Houston. As is the custom, the meeting was a collaboration between multidisciplinary healthcare team members who provide services for children who have musculoskeletal disorders. Jorge A. Fabregas, MD, ACPOC president, began the general session on Thursday, March 23, by welcoming attendees and presenting the New Investigator Awards to Jessica McQuerry, MD, for her work, "Effect of Amputation Level on Quality of Life and Subjective Function in Children," and Burhan Syed Dhar, CPO, for his work, "Conversion of Hip Disarticulation Into Transfemoral Amputation." Other meeting highlights included the presidential guest speaker, John P. Dormans, MD, who provided a historical perspective of ACPOC, with some thoughts toward future endeavors, and the Hector Kay Memorial Lecture by Scott H. Kozin, MD, who discussed the first pediatric, bilateral hand transplant, and provided insight into what is necessary to be a team leader and to be part of a comprehensive team of healthcare professionals. A perennial favorite, the Physicians' Guided Forum, was moderated by Anna Cuomo, MD. Attendees were able to present challenging cases and receive feedback and advice from the audience. Throughout the event, symposiums and sessions covered upper- and lower-limb orthoses and prostheses, spinal orthoses, mobility and seating topics, gait analysis, device fitting, limb lengthening, and foot deformities and management. Friday morning opened with a reflection on patient satisfaction, followed by three papers discussing acceptance, self-advocacy, and clinical patient fitting. Following the business meeting, afternoon symposiums offered a comprehensive review of the medical, surgical, rehabilitative, and orthotic implications of multiple congenital contracture syndrome (arthrogryposis), as well as a specific look at the foot disorders and gait deviations in children with arthrogryposis. The 2018 Annual Meeting will be held April 11-14 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, Grand Rapids, will host the meeting.
