The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to C. Michael Schuch, CPO, FAAOP, FISPO, during the AOPA National Assembly in Vancouver, British Columbia, in September. The award is given to those who have made significant contributions to O&P.
Schuch, who passed away in June 2015, served in many educational and professional positions within the O&P profession during a career that spanned more than four decades. He was director of clinical and technical services at SPS, Alpharetta, Georgia, and vice president and director of clinical services and assistant clinical professor at Duke University Medical Center. He was a past president of AOPA and The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, and a board member of the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and the Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation.
