Peter W. Thomas, JD, general counsel for the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics & Prosthetics and counsel to the Orthotic and Prosthetic Alliance, received the National Leadership Excellence Award from the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA).
Thomas, a managing partner at Power Pyles Sutter & Verville PC, received the award in September during the AMRPA 2026 Educational Conference & Expo in Austin, Texas, for his outstanding service and significant contributions to the field of medical rehabilitation.
Rhonda Abbott, AMRPA board chair, presented the award to Thomas, who expressed his gratitude to the inpatient rehabilitation community, with which he has a longstanding personal connection. Thomas has bilateral lower-limb amputations following an automobile accident early in life.
He is a member of the Powers Law Firm’s legislative and healthcare practice groups and a longtime leader in the rehabilitation and disability communities. Throughout his career, Thomas has held leadership and advisory roles with federal agencies, national organizations, and nonprofit boards, helping shape healthcare, rehabilitation, and disability policy and advance access to services for people with disabilities.
