The Orthotics and Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research (O&P Foundation), in partnership with the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC), launched the Margy Imlay Memorial Scholarship, honoring the life and legacy of Margy Imlay, an educator, advocate, and caregiver in the field of post-mastectomy care.
The scholarship will provide $1,600 to assist candidates pursuing BOC mastectomy fitter certification and professional development. Each award includes funding toward educational coursework, certification and renewal fees, continuing education, and registration for the post-mastectomy professionals conference, POWER Symposium.
Imlay dedicated her career to helping women rebuild confidence and comfort after breast surgery. As a BOC certified mastectomy fitter for more than 20 years, she combined clinical skill with empathy to mentor others and advance awareness for quality mastectomy care.
“Margy Imlay embodied compassion, skill, and an unwavering commitment to helping women regain confidence after breast surgery,” said Judi Knott, MA, MBA, CAE, BOC president and CEO. “Through this scholarship, we celebrate her life’s work and help ensure that her example continues to inspire the next generation of mastectomy fitters.”
Fanny Schultea, executive director of the O&P Foundation said, “The Margy Imlay Memorial Scholarship reflects the heart of what both of our organizations represent, investing in people who improve patient care through empathy and excellence. It’s a privilege to partner with BOC in honoring Margy’s remarkable contributions to this profession.”
