The Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) announced that its president and CEO, Claudia Zacharias, MBA, CAE, has been appointed to serve on the Certified Association Executive (CAE) Commission. The commission is the governing body for the CAE and is an independent certifying body of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). The commission awards the association’s credential and is responsible for setting policy and standards related to the CAE program.
“The invitation to serve on the commission was incredibly humbling. “I am honored to contribute my perspective from the intersection of credentialing and association management,” said Zacharias, who earned her CAE credential in 2008.
In her new role, Zacharias will serve on the Competency Based Task Force, which focuses on shifting the CAE credential to a competency-based format.
The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. To earn the designation, executives must meet educational, experiential, and specialized professional development requirements, pass an examination in association management and uphold a code of ethics
