The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that Noridian Healthcare Solutions has been awarded a new contract for the administration of Medicare fee-for-service claims for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies in Jurisdiction A. The company was originally awarded the contract in 2006 and again in 2015. The contract period for the new award includes a base year and the option for six one-year option periods.
The Jurisdiction A Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor serves Medicare beneficiaries who reside in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Jurisdiction A includes more than 20,000 DME suppliers and processes more than 11 million claims for Medicare beneficiaries annually. The contract is valued at $142 million.
Because Noridian is the incumbent contractor, CMS said that it anticipates few, if any, disruptions in service for Medicare beneficiaries and providers.
“The Noridian DME team consistently processes Medicare claims 99 percent timely,” said Julie Dallmann, the Jurisdiction A project manager. “Meaning that neither healthcare suppliers nor their patients are waiting on funds. This means a great deal to us and also to our CMS client. The people who performed this work with such accuracy and efficiency are credited with this re-award.”
