The National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) is updating the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Orthotic & Prosthetic Technician Standards to reflect current practices and ensure graduates are prepared to succeed. NCOPE is seeking public comments about the standards through July 11.
In 2024, a comprehensive revision of the standards began with input from dozens or stakeholders including employers of O&P technicians, clinicians, technical school graduates, and manufacturers.
Persons offering feedback will be given a personalized link that allows them to review and offer input over multiple sessions by providing their contact information. The draft of the standards is 22 pages long; NCOPE suggests allowing at least 30 minutes to review the document.
