Scott Cummings, PT, CPO, FAAOP, will retire on June 28 from Next Step Bionics & Prosthetics, New Hampshire, following a 35-year career in the O&P profession.
Cummings has spent the last 22 years at Next Step. “It has been incredibly exciting and rewarding to help improve lives by teaming with talented co-workers in the provision of care,” he said.
He also said he had the opportunity to help advance the profession by volunteering for The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy) and other professional organizations.
“It was through these activities that I met so many dedicated individuals, many who have become great friends,” said Cummings, who won the 2024 Titus Ferguson Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the highest levels of recognition bestowed to an outstanding academician whose accomplishments and contributions have made a significant impact on the growth and development of the O&P profession.
Cummings said “While I will miss patient care and collaborative contributions, I am quite ready to enhance my focus on activities with my wife, Alison, our family, and friends.”
“It is bittersweet for us to announce the retirement of Scott Cummings,” Next Step Bionics wrote on LinkedIn. “He has had a profound and positive influence on countless patients and colleagues. A true professional, he has been an integral part of the Next Step family. While we will miss him dearly, we are overjoyed at the thought of Scott enjoying his retirement.”
