Don Cummings, CP/L, director of prosthetics, Scottish Rite for Children, Texas, will retire in March after an O&P career that has spanned more than 40 years. He has held the director of prosthetics role since 1987 after earning a bachelor’s degree in O&P from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1984. Cummings became interested in prosthetics following bilateral transtibial amputations due to bacterial meningitis in 1978.
Cummings was given the Distinguished Practitioner Award during the grand opening ceremonies at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium being held this week in Nashville, Tennessee.
