Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA), announced that Glenn Merry will become executive director on August 27. Merry will be the fourth leader in the 51-year history of the organization. The DSUSA board of directors noted appreciation of Kirk Bauer’s 36 years as executive director and his supportive role through a transition that will conclude with his official retirement December 31.
Merry will lead DSUSA’s national office, including strategic planning and implementation, and will be responsible for providing management and growth of DSUSA’s operations and programs. He has 25 years of experience leading nonprofit and sports management organizations. He previously served as CEO of the United States Rowing Association, an Olympic National Governing Body, where he led the launch of the association’s adaptive/para rowing program and created Freedom Rows, a national program serving military veterans.
DSUSA provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to develop independence, confidence and fitness through participation in sports. A member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, DSUSA offers programs in more than 50 summer and winter sports in 41 states.
