Hanger Education Fair: Courage, Commitment, Care

Hanger, Austin, Texas, held its 2014 Annual Education Fair and National Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 4-7. This year's theme was Courage, Commitment, Care: courage to do what's right, question the status quo, and find new pathways; demonstrating the commitment to the company's mantra of empowering human potential; and approaching each patient and customer interaction with compassionate care.

More than 1,400 attendees, including about 850 O&P clinicians and physical and occupational therapists from Hanger and its business units across the country, convened at the annual event for continuing education on orthotic, prosthetic, and rehabilitative solutions. Among the most well-attended courses were Transfemoral Prosthetic Care; CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) Management - Maximizing Therapist and Orthotist Collaboration; Women in Leadership; Hanger Pediatric Orthotics Program; and 2014 Coding and Compliance Updates.

The Annual Hanger Education Fair also presented a number of business, networking, and celebratory events. The exhibit hall featured more than 120 exhibits and 280 exhibitor representatives; a number of manufacturers displayed some of their newest componentry. Awards were distributed throughout the week to celebrate the success of employees who delivered exceptional care and service in 2013. Many patients were also in attendance, helping to educate attendees and sharing personal stories of overcoming adversity and thriving with prosthetic, orthotic, and rehabilitative solutions.

A special video message from some of Hanger's young patients was shared at the conclusion of the conference. Eleven pediatric patients were asked what they want to be when they grow up and what they think the future holds. Their answers? They know they can be whatever they want.
