If a Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words…

What is a video worth? That's what we'd like to find out, but we need your help to do it. The O&P EDGE , in coordination with oandp.com, is launching video streaming capability on The O&P EDGE website and throughout oandp.com . The O&P EDGE staff will be working throughout the coming year to incorporate online exclusive video content to complement our editorial coverage, and we're on the lookout for relevant content to add to our growing video library. Do you have a fabrication technique that you would like to share or a patient who would permit you to document his or her clinical outcome? Would you like to highlight your innovative business model via a "virtual tour" of your patient care facility? Are you taking part in a model humanitarian initiative that you would like to document and share with a wide audience of your peers? These are just a few possibilities. If you have a video you'd like to submit for consideration or an idea for possible video coverage, contact our Assistant Web Editor Susan Flood at linkEmail('susan','opedge.com'); and give her the details. We're excited about this enhancement to oandp.com. For more than seven years, The O&P EDGE has been your independent source for O&P news and information. Through our technology partnership with the industry portal, oandp.com, we are able to deliver more of our content to an even wider audience. Earlier this year, we helped oandp.com launch a comprehensive redesign of its website. And now, we're ramping up our efforts to bring you O&P news and information in more ways than ever before. What else can we do to make The O&P EDGE and oandp.com more useful to you? Send an e-mail to linkEmail('karen','opedge.com'); and let me know. In This Issue... As the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Revolutionizing Prosthetics 2009 (RP2009) project reaches its deadline to "create, within this decade, a fully functional (motor and sensory) upper limb that responds to direct neural control" (Revolutionizing Prosthetics, www.darpa.mil ), a lot of folks are waiting to see what will be brought to market as a result. Aside from the various DARPA initiatives, however, there is a plethora of exciting upper-limb advancements coming to market right now or in the near future. Miki Fairley takes a look at what's out there in her article, "State of the Art: Upper-Limb Prosthetics Technology," . Don't worry. We still have our eyes on DARPA, and we'll bring you updates on the "final push" as details become available. Thanks for reading.
