Jason Stoneback, MD, director of the Limb Restoration Program at the University of Colorado Hospital Anschutz Medical Campus, passed away on July 28. He was 48. A memorial was held on Aug. 31.
Stoneback served as a professor of orthopedics, executive vice chair of clinical affairs, and chief of orthopedic trauma and fracture surgery at University of Colorado Anschutz. He founded the multidisciplinary Limb Restoration Program, becoming a pioneer in complex limb reconstruction and osseointegration surgery. Stoneback was widely recognized for transforming patient care, saving limbs, and restoring mobility for hundreds of patients facing severe trauma.
“Dr. Stoneback was an exceptional physician, educator, and leader. Our Limb Restoration Program is a world leader and Dr. Stoneback was its champion,” said an announcement in the University of Colorado Anschutz newsletter.
