Independence Prosthetics-Orthotics, Dover, Delaware, hosted a full–day OPAF First Fit clinic at the University of Delaware.
The morning session drew over 25 local therapists, students, and O&P clinicians for education with credits in adaptive recreation for inviduals with lower–limb amputations as well as a focus on running feet and how to teach people with amputations to run.
Participants focused on learning how to run.

Participants had blood pressure and pulse checks to ensure everyone was able to participate in a warm–up and up–tempo workout that started the afternoon session. Stations were set up and modified exercises focused on balance, core strength, and tasks specific to the patient’s needs and desires. Following the session, everyone received a handout with the same exercise suggestions to take home and work on their own or with their coach.
