CGS, the Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor for Jurisdiction B and Jurisdiction C, announced that its Medical Review staff will conduct a complex post-pay service-specific medical review of Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Code L-0650 (lumbar-sacral orthosis) claims.
The review is being conducted because data analysis revealed that Jurisdiction C’s allowed dollars for L-0650 were significantly above expected amounts. Additionally, CGS said that the spinal orthosis policy group ranked third in total Comprehensive Error Rate Testing errors.
