The National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) is hosting a webinar about new Medicare coverage for advanced O&P devices. The free event is being held on Tuesday, July 23, 12:30-1:30 p.m. ET. Non-members are welcome to attend.
In recent months, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors have been broadening coverage of advanced O&P devices, which is dramatically increasing access to state-of-the-art clinical care. A new wave of decisions is positively impacting patients and the practitioners who serve them. To that end, the webinar will:
- Detail new Medicare coverage policies of advanced O&P care
- Answer coding, coverage, and payment questions
- Describe additional efforts necessary to effectuate access to care
- Illustrate the impact on payers other than Medicare so all patients benefit
Policies to be discussed include:
- Microprocessor knee expansion to K2 beneficiaries with limb loss
- Clarification that powered orthoses can be covered as orthoses under Medicare, expanding orthotic coverage
- The new Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System code for bone-anchored prostheses (osseointegration)
- Upper-limb prosthetic code clarifications to expand access
