The National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) released a webcast in which Peter Thomas, JD, general counsel for NAAOP, announced NAAOP’s new officers taking office in January: Ann Leimkuehler Moss, president; Nate Kapa, CP, vice president; Regina Weger, secretary; and Adam Miller, treasurer. Thomas also congratulated Breece Fellow Nikki Grace-Strader for her OPGA O&P Woman of the Year Award and discussed the following policy issues:
- CMS reimbursement schedule for an osseointegration coupling device add-on HCPCS code
- Powered orthoses proposed regulation clarifying that power applied to orthoses are considered covered benefits under Medicare
- Retirement of Upper Prosthetic Limb Coding Clarification and follow-up work that needs to be done with Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors
- CMS’ notice proposing temporary coverage of emerging technologies and the NAAOP and the Alliance response to the proposed process
- Continued support for the O&P Medicare Patient-Centered Care Act
