The National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) has released a webcast in which General Counsel Peter Thomas, JD, comments on the Continuing Resolution passed by the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in the early morning hours on February 9 that included recognizing prosthetists’ and orthotists’ clinical notes as part of a patient’s medical record.
Prior to a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) policy change in 2011, the medical notes of O&P practitioners were valid as part of the record. O&P organizations have fought to reverse that policy since that time. Thomas called the passage “a big win,” for O&P.
The latest webcast is posted on the NAAOP website on NAAOP’s YouTube channel as well as oandp.com, shared with members via email, and made available via the NAAOP Facebook page.
