Atlas International, Cordova, California, an orthotics, materials, and lab equipment distributor, in partnership with Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee, recently completed the first-ever university-level preparatory course on the West Coast for the certified pedorthist (CPed)examination. Dubbed OSU-West, the 120-hour Pedorthic Footwear Technology Education & Training Program was led by Bill Meanwell, CPed, over three extended Thursday-Sunday weekends in February and March. The class work and hands-on work provides the prerequisites for taking the examination by the Board for Certification in Pedorthics (BCP). Located in Sacramento, California, the class site provides a central location for easy access from all of northern California and western Nevada, noted Atlas International. As expected, the 20 seats were filled very quickly. Another course has already been slated for June 2-June 13, 2003 at the Sacramento site. Based on the success of the first course, the addition of future dates are expected as well, according to Atlas International. For more information on courses and registration, contact Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee, 800.722.4471, or Atlas International, 800.545.6287, or visit www.atlasortho.com.
