Shahr Lopatin, prosthetist, has joined Freedom Innovations, Corona, California, as director of sales and technical services, the company announced June 5. Lopatin's role is to generate sales of Freedom prosthetic products from domestic and international distributors as well as independent prosthetists, the company said. Lopatin brings more than 33 years of experience as a prosthetist to Freedom Innovations, the company noted. He is certified in prosthetics by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and was educated at the University of Tel Aviv, Israel. His career was inspired during the Six-Day War of 1967. He was visiting a friend in the amputee ward of an Israeli army hospital who had lost both legs during combat. After this life-changing encounter, Lopatin said, "I dedicated my life to serving amputees." First volunteering at a prosthetics lab in Siba, Israel, Lopatin then came to Chicago, Illinois, where he worked at the Lakeside Veterans Hospital and Ballert Orthopedics He later joined the staff at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC). Lopatin also has headed the fabrication department at Orthomedics, Pasadena, California, and served as director of prosthetic services at Sunny Hills Orthopedic Services, Fullerton, California.
