Benjamin "Ben" Young has been named the new Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) youth activities coordinator, replacing Hendrikje "Henny" Carriger, who is leaving the organization in July to pursue a masters degree in business administration, the ACA announced June 16. Young holds a bachelors degree in liberal arts and brings to ACA a strong background in customer service, sales, program development, and working with children. Young will be responsible for planning and implementing the ACA Youth Activities Program (YAP), which offers young amputees nationwide support and education through various YAP programs and services, including: the three-day Youth Camp held each summer. Currently, the camp offers fitness, fun, and peer support to over 50 kids each year. YAP regional events include the bio-fit targeted fitness program, which features one-day events for amputees aged 8-18, including educational and fitness information and activities, plus caregiver support for parents. The bio-fit program is made possible through a partnership of the ACA and Ohio Willow Wood Company, Mount Sterling, Ohio.
