Bill Weymer, former senior executive with Brown & Coles Stores, has been named as the new CEO for Cascade DAFO in Ferndale, Washington. Cascade DAFO, with over 120 employees, is a leading provider of pediatric foot orthoses throughout the United States. Before joining DAFO, Weymer was vice president of Store Operations for Brown and Coles Stores, one of the largest private companies in the state of Washington. In this role, he was responsible for nearly $400 million in annual sales and the senior executive responsible for 2,500 employees in 33 stores. Prior to this position, he served in numerous leadership roles with predecessor companies Thrifty Foods and Consumers Choice. Weymer commented, "Although most of my prior experience has been in retail, this is a welcome challenge for me because of the opportunity to make a quantifiable difference in lives-both the children we serve and their parents. I am excited by [owner Don Buethorn's] vision and passion and look forward to helping this company realize its great potential." "The medical industry is changing and we need to adapt to accommodate future trends," says Buethorn, CPO. "Bill possesses many attributes which we feel will be very useful in this environment, such as compassion and the understanding of a complex marketplace." This history of innovation is one of the aspects of the company that interested Weymer. New technologies and methods promise to make even greater change in the lives of young patients. "We must remain relevant," he says. "Patients' needs are changing and we have an obligation and commitment to provide solutions." After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in marketing, Weymer began his career with a major wholesaler serving over 300 independent supermarkets throughout the Northwest. He also was co-owner of Town and Country Markets, a small chain of stores in the Seattle area. This experience gives him valuable insight into the challenges of operating facilities of all sizes. "Furthermore," says Buethorn, "he has proven leadership ability in a highly competitive, service-oriented market, which will enable us to continue fulfilling our mission for the future."
