The Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC),
Baltimore, Maryland, released a statement on July 27 that
unification negotiations which began in 2003 with the American
Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC), were
terminated today by ABC. The BOC stated that although no fault is
to be assessed, there is a vast difference in culture between the
two groups that is difficult to bridge although both agencies
showed commitment to pursue unification.
