Aetna, Hartford, Connecticut, announced that its Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer John W. Rowe, M.D., will retire by the end
Of 2006 and that President Ronald A. Williams, 56, has been named
president and CEO, effective February 14. Dr. Rowe, who has served
as the company’s chairman since April 1, 2001 and CEO since
December 13, 2000, will serve as executive chairman from February
14 until his retirement.
