ISPO World Congress Issues Second Call for Papers

The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) has issued its second announcement and call for papers for the 2007 World Congress to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, July 29-August 3. Deadline for submission of abstracts for review by the Scientific Program Committee is December 15.

The Second Announcement and Call for Papers for the 12th World Congress has been widely distributed by mail, said Tim Bach, PhD, Scientific Program chair. A PDF version of the Second Announcement is available on the Congress website: www.ispo.ca/congress/images/ISPO2007-2nd-announce.pdf

A draft program for Instructional Courses and Symposia also is available on the Congress website: www.ispo.ca/congress/scientific.html , and will be updated regularly in the months leading up to the Congress.

The Organizing Committee invites free paper submissions from members of the worldwide prosthetics and orthotics community. According to Bach, topics suitable for presentation at the Congress include, but are not limited to: Prosthetics, Orthotics, Wheelchairs and Seating, Engineering, Surgery, Rehabilitation Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, P&O Education, and Physical Disability Issues.

Abstracts must be written in English and must conform to the Abstract Template available from the Congress website: www.ispo.ca/congress/images/abstract_proforma.doc

The Abstract Template is a Microsoft Word document that includes instructions for using the template and formatting styles for the document.

Bach noted these important deadlines for prospective authors and presenters:

* December 15, 2006: Deadline for submission of free paper and poster abstracts;

* February 16, 2007: Notification of authors;

* April 16, 2007: Deadline for speaker registration; and

* July 26, 2007: Deadline for receipt of PowerPoint files for podium presentations.
