Smith is seeing patients at the company's headquarters in Clive, Iowa, and at Methodist Medical Plaza II at 1215 Pleasant St., Des Moines, Iowa. Smith received his certification in orthotics from the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC) in 1999, and from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) in 2004. Prior to joining APO, Smith was the manager at Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics in Lincoln, Nebraska. He also practiced at the Prosthetic and Orthotic Institute, Charlotte, North Carolina, and at Certified Orthotic and Prosthetic Associates (formerly Alegent Health Rehabilitation), Omaha, Nebraska. Smith is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also served in the U.S. Air Force as an active duty medical specialist from 1976 to 1984 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. Following active duty, he was a member of the Air Force Reserve. Prior to his retirement from military service, he joined the Army National Guard and served on the Helicopter Medical Evaluation Unit from 1994 to 2000. Smith will reside in Des Moines. APO has Iowa patient care offices in Clive, Des Moines, Sioux City, Davenport, West Burlington, Iowa City, University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, and in Moline, Illinois.
