Pennsylvania’s two largest health insurers, Highmark Inc. and
Independence Blue Cross, have agreed to merge to form a company
which will provide health insurance to about eight million people,
the companies said in a joint statement March 28. The new company
will provide insurance to about eight million people, according to
Reuters and Business Insurance Online March 28.
