Each year the Eastern Michigan University (EMU), Ypsilanti, College of Health and Human Services recognizes those who have exemplified characteristics of outstanding students. At a reception in April, EMU named Kara Davis the orthotics and prosthetics Outstanding Student of the Year. A life-long resident of Michigan, Davis obtained her bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, before enrolling in the O&P graduate program at EMU. Davis, pictured with Robert L. Rhodes, director of EMU's O&P Programs, was nominated and selected by the EMU faculty as outstanding student because of the care and professionalism she brought to her educational experience at the university, as well as her clinical affiliations with the University of Michigan Orthotics & Prosthetics Center, Great Lakes Prosthetics & Orthotics, and Wright & Filippis. On being named the O&P Outstanding Student of the Year, Davis thanked her family as well as the EMU faculty and aforementioned practioners for their "infinite wisdom and enthusiasm to teach."
