The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced
70 additional areas in four regions across the United States to be
included in the second phase of the competitive bidding program.
The program is designed to reduce out-of-pocket costs for Medicare
beneficiaries and to improve access to certain durable medical
equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS). Ten areas
currently participate in the program, according to CMS.
